Re: [Thoracic Outlet Syndrome] TOS or FMS
Hiya!
I have both FMS and TOS as well!
I was born with both. The TOS is on both sides, though my right side
is a LOT worse than my left and is always playing up. Though when my
left does play up it tends to be more serious.
The two conditions are a nightmare together. TOS causes a ton of pain,
FMS makes it unbearable.
I don't have a doctor for either; I'm in the UK and the NHS is a bit
rubbish to be honest.
The Rheumatologist told me they wouldn't see me for FMS because "if
they saw every fibromyalgia sufferer, they'd never see any real patients."
Yes... he said REAL patients.
I'm getting a new GP in 3 weeks when I move to Uni, so I'm going to
try and get to see a neurologist as my TOS has got a lot worse since
it was diagnosed, and it really needs sorting out.
Also; I want to row at Uni, and I need to know if rowing is possible
with TOS!
I have hypermobile shoulders, and building up the shoulder muscles by
rowing would help keep the joints in place, but I'm worried about
causing more problems to my TOS!
How do you guys cope with FMS heat sensitivities and TOS?
My TOS does tend to get better if I apply heat, but then my FMS goes
insane. I've just had a hot shower and although that would normally
help my TOS, just having my arms up to wash my hair has caused it to
get really bad.
This really is a horrible disease!
