Nobody's going to be locked up. These aren't criminal laws, they're
civil laws, and they don't apply to individuals but govern employment
contracts. People who run their own business can work as much as they
like, because there's no way to control their working hours, although
most European countries do have laws governing when business have to be
closed.
BTW, we housewives work 140 hours a week, and the EU isn't bothered by
it. ;)
