Greetings Phamily
Just getting my bearings after a wonderful trip to the, by far, best music festival I have ever been too. The place (Double JJ Ranch in Grant Township Michigan) was too much fun. I am not sure that there are real words to describe it. But, lets just say it was like going to a festy at a big camp. Replete with a forest that you could chill out in when the day got too hard. And then Peak Productions got ahold of this very forest and tweaked it out with lights, ambiance and all kinds of places to get a grip.
If you did not want to go to the the festival all the time, there was much to do for recreation. You could bike, horseback ride, go to an indoor water park or many outdoor lakes.
The table rocked. We, your trusted volunteers, got to the show a day early. We got to bond, hold group conscience and make sure we had an awesome table. My hats off to Sarah Rosenzwieg Jules and Adam Heinemann, who never worked a table before, let alone had been to a festival. There contributions to our presence was remarkable. The shares these people gave were heartfelt. Me and Lefty are old pros at this stuff, but we learned a lot as well. Last, my dear friend Benji, was a pleasure to work with and his shares at our meeting were a great mixture of wit and seriousness, always keeping the focus on the message. I am now truly bonded with these people forever.
This was also the first presence of Camp Traction at a festival. Hats off to Michael T for starting this thing and Emory and Derek for carrying it through. Word spread about CT (can you believe there was an actual yellow balloon on the festival map to mark where they were camping. Thank you Nadia P) and they had quite a group of campers there. I heard their meeting rocked. CT is hear to stay. Oh yeah, Emory and Derek, thanks for the table service work as well.
I also want to thank all of you who came to the table. Nice to see Zack again. Burph thanks for the service work. Ronda, have a blast living on the west coast. Matt, great to meet you and best in your recovery. DADDY DON thanks for being in the house. Your chairmanship of the meeting on the 3rd day was honestly, the best meeting I had ever been to at a show. You Rock, man. All who came to the table, we are feeling ya.
So, this is now a festival that will have to be reckoned with. It was a great success and from the looks of it, will be here to stay. Check out how our major newspaper felt about it. www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/99999999/ENT04/80702094&template=theme&theme=ROTHBURY2008
Anyway, see some of you down the line soon. If you enjoyed the part of the state that Rothbury took place in, go to Dunegrass later this month. (moe. and Railroad Earth are some of the headliners www.dunegrassfestival.com It is even more beautiful up there. And if Benji and Sarah have it there way, there will be a Sober table there as well. Good luck guys, you have 23 days to pull it together.
Blessings.
Miko
