Steve, thank you for sharing your experience with us on this birthday of yours. You are one of my oldest friends in the recovering Deadhead scene. I don't mean that because of your age, either. I have known you since I took my first clean and sober trip out west for a music festival and met you in an AA meeting in town back in 1998. There were about 10 people in that room. We have been friends ever since and have had many journey together. Thank you for keeping the doors open for sick SOB's like me.
Love and Dance

Subject: [Gateway-WSP] Celebrating 19 Years on an Emotional Rollercoaster
I woke up this morning filled with gratitude to be able to celebrate 19 years clean today. It was another beautiful crisp Colorado morning filled with sunshine as I drove to work looking at the Rockies and feeling so grateful to be clean another day. There are so many loving people in my life today and I knew I would get many emails and phone calls to share in my celebration of recovery.
I opened the first email to find out that a dear friend of mine from our music scene who some of you may have had the pleasure of knowing, Missy Baron, died in a horrible car accident in Nevada yesterday. What a way to start the day. Missy was the person whose smile lit up the room and whose dancing and zest for life were contagious. So today, I receive a phone call of love, hope and joy from my sponsor, sponsees and friends, mixed with calls of other friends grieving over the loss of Missy. This loss reminds me to not only be grateful for bring clean today but also to be grateful that I am alive to see today.
Today I have a program that lets me feel these emotional highs and lows to their fullest and not have to medicate them.
Peace and Hugs,
Steve K
