I just saved a ton on car insurance.
No, really, I am writing all of you (a lot of you on these group lists will get this in duplicate or triplicate, that just means your more special, HA HA) to let you know that I, once a confirmed bachelor, got engaged over the weekend while attending my sisters wedding in New York. Heather Grimes and I went on some site seeing Friday morning and since she's never been to the City we ventured down the subway to Times Square and other stops along the way. After seeing ground zero we headed north for Central Park where we made our way through Strawberry Fields and John Lennon's memorial. You know how much music means to me. Well, we wondered our way towards Sheeps Meadow and the lake near the 72nd street entrance to the park and I got really nervous and began to ramble on about some story of how old the park is and how old my great grandmother would be if she were alive. Anyway, I got exhausted from feeling my pants pocket to make sure I had not lost my great grandmother's diamond wedding ring and I dropped down to one knee in Central Park outside Strawberry Fields and proposed marriage.
And she accepted!
I hope to talk to each of you over the course of the next several days to tell you more but also wanted to share this with other friends I don't get to see or talk to as often as I'd like and let you all know how much you have each meant to me over the years in your own very special and unique way.
Thanks for being there and I hope to see you all real soon.
Lots of loving friendships along the way,
-Patrick Whelan
