Clefts having children

i everyone! I haven't posted much recented
because I have been spending time with my daughter,
something I didn't expect to happen! Which brings me to the
reason for this message...

Those of you who are
cleft know how hard it is getting a date. That didn't
happen until I was 23...only three years ago. And now
I'm married and have a beutiful baby girl.

I
had always wanted to have children (though I never
really expected to get past the dating point) and never
had second thoughts about the child possibly have a
cleft. For me, I felt that if I did than I was in a good
position for that. I would already know about the
operations, braces, being teased, etc. and so I wouldn't be
thrown into shock into not having a clue what to
do.

I know about that there are clefts out there who do
have cleft children. So far I don't. My daughter is
about as "normal" as they come...and so cute! Of course
I'm the mom and I would say something like that
:).

I'm interested in hearing from you in what your
feelings are about being cleft and having kids. Was it
planned? How did your family react, or would react, when
that happened? Etc.

Calvero :)
