I just became a member. My daughter was born with
a bilaterial cleft palate. She has no front teeth
on top. She didn't have anything wrong with her lip.
My daughter's name is Tae. Tae has a trach in place.
She is 19 yrs old. She has never had surgery or
anything done about the cleft. I know that with reading
some of the early posts, (haven't gotten through them
all), that everyone has seemed to have their's fixed
very young. We have had alot of other problems. Tae is
actually one of a kind. The doctor's around the world at
least when Tae was young couldn't tell us what syndrome
she had. They did say it was not Pierre Robin's. But
like I said they couldn't tell us what it is. She has
severe scoliosis. Her chest is not growing. The doc's
said last year that there is no more they can do for
her. All they can do is try to manage the pain.
<br>Last March 1998, we didn't think she would make it to
prom, but she did. She just graduated on May 29th with
honors, she was ranked 8th in her class. To say the least
we are very proud of her. She also received a
scholorship ($500) for college. Tae is attending
International Business College at the end of August. She is
getting a BA in office administration.
