2 weeks, with no days off....will be glad when it's over with...take care hun
and I will check my emails again when I return home next week....and NEVER GIVE
UP...FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

My biggest fear is leaving my daughter. I am fighting and I need these success
stories. I have been told that my canver has a 7 perecetn survial rate for the
first year. I refuse to leave her in a year or in 5. i am not losing weight.
I am at 210 right now due to steroids from chemo last year and i have not been
able to lose the weight. i occassionally have trouble swallowing but not to the
point i even think aobut it when i eat. It is a surprise when it happens, They
can not operate and i ws told due to the size they do not see it decreasing
enough for that. i do not understan how you can operate on the liver, stomach
or esophgas seperstely but not all three. makes no sense.. I want to be the
first they try it on but they will not. I am undergoing chemo again. last year
I lost hair and all but this year that may or may not happen. i do not care as
long as i livce. all i want is
to raise my baby....pray for me and if anyone
knows of a succeess story of a situation similar to mine I couls use it right
now. but if not, i will be the frist and you heard it here first. I have
everything to live for and if you met her you would agree. i love my daughter
and she is so young. I AM NOT GOING TO LEAVE HER

My name is katrina Layne and I was and internet model
as well as a teachers assistant for head start ages 3 to 5.
In July of 2004, I was told I was pregnant..
Shortly after there were complications and i
was told it was and eptopic pregnancy. I was
given shots of methotrexate to cause a miscarriage.
The shots did not work and my beta hcg level continued
to grow. after numerous ultrasounds and autreiograms
and 2 d and c and laserscopic surgeries I had a hysterectomy.
all tests showed nothing in my reproductive system.
In January of 2005 8 days after my hysterectomy I began
chemo therapy for Gestational Trophblastic Disease.
I was told this was a rare cancer. that I was pregnant
but the placenta tissue had been so small it had left
my reproductive system. It was some where in my blood
stream and they had no idea where. I began weekly chemo.
i was admited to the hospital weekly for the chemo as the
sessions were long. I under went chemo from January of 2005
until March 30, 2005.. I began to try to recover but i was
still having problems with being week. I also underwent ear
surgery for a ruptured ear drum as i was having infections
more frequently and my chmeo dr recomended it. In January 2005
i also began Psychiatric care with Dr David Kapley. I was later
diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In July of 2005 I began to
experience chest pains and was sent to my general physician
Dr Tapp. He diagnosed thorugh various tests that i had had
a minor heart attack he blieved the chemotherapy had caused
a weakening to my heart.. He also referred me to a sleep
specialist that has diagnosed sleep apnea. I have also been
referred to a neurologist that has diagnosed bulging discs
in my neck in 3 locationas and damage to my autonomic nerve
system due to the chemo. All of this has been confirmed
thorugh various medical tests the Drs have performed. During
this time as well I was referred to Dr Boggess who performed
nose surgery opening up my airway in hopes of helping with
the sleep apnea. It did not. I go back to the sleep lab this
sunday April 30 and after that should soon be getting my machine.
Through out all of this beta hcg levels have been drawn and
remained at level 0 but i have continued to be weak and ill
thorugh out never getting any better. then in April of 2006
I began to have trouble swallowing and holding things down.
Dr Tapp at that time referred me to Dr Morrisey a gastrologist.
he performed a Bariun dysfuison wash and a endo scope. He also
did a cat scan with the dye. He found what looked like a big
ulcer beginning at the bade of my esophgas extending down into
my stomach. he said he biopsied this. he had me come back in
for a cat scan with the dye. It showed that this had traveled
to the liver and could not be operated on. I was diagnosed with
cancer of the esophgas,
stomach, as well as the liver. i went to vanderbilt, a hospital in
Tenn. for a second opinion and they said the same. They recomended
chemotherapy in hopes of prolonging my life. the diagnosis is
3 months to 3 years and I began chemo on March 17, 2006.
Sincerely,
Katrina Layne
