Hi Onjay and all, Well, we weathered Isabel and lost power at 4:15pm on
Thursday when our neighbor's Tulip tree came down and took out the power lines.
On Saturday at 9:30am a line of trucks lead by A tree cutter came in to set
things right. The linemen were from North Carolina and Georgia. No damage to
our the house although one neighbor up four streets had two of his mature oaks
come down on his roof! The neighborhood got together and helped each other out.
We cleared downed branches from the road. As all were on well water, there was
no water (electric driven water pumps you know) and we used tub water to flush
the toilets. A few had generators to run refrigerators. Neighbors offered
their pool water for non-potable uses and another loaned out his generator to
kickstart some refrigerators. Luckily we had enough ice and put up frozen jugs
of water to keep things from spoiling. The whole event was like camping without
going to camp ground. Stayed abreast of news with a battery powered boom box.
Flashlights and candles provided light. Other friends were not so lucky. Many
are still without power and one friend, with a place near the river, had her
entire yard flooded up to the house and 4.5 feet of water in the basement!
Sewage backup followed and last I heard it was a mess! Russ in Annapolis

read thou the prayer."
