Proposed Revised Pest Control Products Regulations Published - The proposed revised Pest Control Products Regulations have been published for comment in the Canada Gazette, Part I. This is a necessary step towards bringing the new Pest Control Products Act, which was given Royal Assent in December 2002, into force. Revising the existing Regulations is necessary to meet the objectives of the new Pest Control Products Act. The proposed revisions to the existing Regulations are designed to ensure their coherence with the new Pest Control Products Act, to clarify and modernize the Regulations and to formalize established procedures and practices. The new Act and Regulations will come into force following publication of the revised Regulations in the Canada Gazette, Part II. Interested persons may provide comments on the proposed revised Pest Control Products Regulations by 12 December 2005. The proposed revised Regulations and details on submitting a representation are available in the Canada

Pesticide Free Sudbury is advocating a ban on the use of pesticides within Greater Sudbury due to health and environmental concerns. They are currently circulating a petition that will be presented to council by Councillor Janet Gasparini in January.
