UMass Amherst Scientist Says New Study Challenges How Regulators Determine Risk - news release December 21,2006 -
"Calabrese says that the field of toxicology got the dose response wrong in the 1930s and this mistake has infiltrated all regulations for low-dose exposures for toxic chemicals and drugs. These low-dose effects can be beneficial or harmful, something that the regulations miss because they are currently based on high-dose testing schemes that differ greatly from
the conditions of human exposures." http://www.umass.edu/newsoffice/newsreleases/articles/43024.php

Chronic Fatigue and Battered Bowel Ecology -
The bowel ecosystem is always injured in chronic states, and its restoration is the second core thrust of my management philosophy for chronic fatiguers ? the first core thrust being a global strategy for reducing oxidative stress. THE GUT IS A MISUNDERSTOOD ORGAN -In drug medicine, when the symptoms are directly related to the gut, the treatment strategy consists of symptom suppression with drugs. When the symptoms are not directly related to the gut, any suggestion of a possible role of a damaged bowel ecosystem in the cause of symptoms is unceremoniously dismissed.  http://majidali.com/Bowel%20I%20Altered%20States%20of%20Bowel%20Ecology.htm

Paraquat is easily the most controversial herbicide in the world. Paraquat is not approved for use in Switzerland. But in a number of developing countries plantation workers and small farmers regularly spray paraquat to kill weeds. As a result, tens of thousands of people are poisoned every year and become ill. Thousands die painful accidental deaths or commit suicide. There is no antidote to paraquat poisoning.   The Swiss agrochemical corporation Syngenta is the world's foremost producer of paraquat. (Syngenta sells it under the trade name Gramoxone). Syngenta sells hundreds of millions of US Dollars worth of paraquat every year. By knowingly marketing their herbicide in countries where experts agree it cannot be safely used, the company is responsible for countless cases of serious or deadly poisoning caused by paraquat. Berne Declaration (BD) is an independent organization engaged in a campaign together with many other NGOs and unions to ban the use and production of paraquat across the world. To highlight the urgency of our campaign we call on civil society to publicly condemn Syngenta's inhuman business policies. We hope to enlist the support of 50,000 people by the end of January 2007 to vote and pronounce a guilty verdict in the case against paraquat.  Vote Now:

A systematic review of all observational studies of lead and cardiovascular disease concludes that lead exposure can cause high blood pressure. The evidence also suggests-- but is insufficient to prove-- that lead exposure causes cardiovascular mortality and other health problems. as well as heart rate variability. The authors conclude that occupational
lead exposure standards should be lowered immediately. Environmental Health Perspectives.

You see things and you say, 'why?' but I dream things that never were; and I say 'why not?'" Thomas Edison

"What is the great Amercican sin? Extravagance? Vice? Graft? No; it is a kind of half-humorous, good-natured indifference, a lack of "concentrated indignation" as my English friend calls it, which allows extravagance and vice to flourish. Trace most of our ills to their source, and it is found that they exist by virtue of an easy-going, fatalistic indifference which dislikes to have its comfort disturbed....The most shameless greed, the most sickening industrial atrocities, the most appalling public scandals are exposed, but a half-cynical and wholly indifferent public passes them by with hardly a shrug of the shoulders; and they are lost in the medley of events. This is the great American sin.":  -- Joseph Fort Newman, Atlantic Monthly, October 1922  "Politics" to describe the process so well: "Poli" (from Latin) means "many", and "tics", meaning blood-sucking pests.
