Dear Dr. Wakefield,
I wanted to add my voice and the unheard voices of my children to this group of
individuals who are showing you how much we appreciate you and all you do/have
done for us and our children.
I am the mother of identical twin boys , born at 28 weeks gestation and given
their vaccinations before they even left the hospital NICU at 3 pounds each. It
horrifies me that nowhere is the "negative" information on vaccinations made
available to new parents. We are literally patted on the head and told this is
the way it has to be. If I had known then, the things I know now; my children
would never have been inoculated. Not at 3 pounds, not at 10 pounds, not ever.
At 18 months after receiving their DTP shots, both my boys had horrendous fevers
that spiked and required hospitalization overnight. They stopped playing
appropriately, they stopped eating some of their favourite foods, they stopped
looking at us in joy to share, stopped giving us that wonderful secret smile
that children have, they stopped babbling and regressed to making one single
repetitive sound all day and long into the night....."aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" .
Soon after they started hand flapping and holding objects very close to their
faces. They were different babies.
Now they are 4 years old, we still have no words from one....But we have gained
back all the babbling and sounds, The other is talking! We will not be getting
their booster shot to start school and have already filed our Vaccination
Exemption forms to the Health Unit in Ontario.
We love you Dr. Wakefield. Without you we would have no truth at all......
