I am a brand new subsciber.
About me:
I am Allan from Connecticut. I am 35 years old
happily married for 8 years with 2 sons ages 3 and 1.
This all has happened pretty fast so forgive me if my
terms are not the most correct.
I have testicular cancer of the nonseminoma 100%
embryonal cell type. 3 weeks ago I had my left
testicle removed with a ping pong ball size tumor. My
tumor does not emit markers.
Last week I had a CT scan, chest Xray and bone scan to
determine if the cancer has spread. The chest Xray
and bone scan were clear but the CT scan showed 3
enlarged lymph nodes that were about 1 1/2 to 2 cm.
Based on the embryonal cell cancer which is an
aggresive fast-growing type, no markers and cancer in
the lymph nodes the recommended treatment is 3
sessions of chemo totalling 9 weeks. My oncologist
consulted with Dr. Einhorn and this treatment was
suggested by him as compared to the RPLND surgery.
Since he is the #1 doctor in the country for this, I
should feel pretty good about this decision.
I am a bit stressed about starting chemo on Monday and
all the side effects of the treatment.
So my hope is talking about it through this forum to
people that have gone through it or are going through
this now will help me.
