In the second episode of his new podcast, "Medicare's Preventative
Services," former HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson discusses the
importance and the current underutilization of Medicare's "Welcome
to Medicare" physical. According to a LA Times article from June
2006, only 2% of eligible beneficiaries have taken advantage of this
new service since it began as a way of understanding their current
health status.
