Hello Lori,
My name is Tessa and my husband Sandy,24 years old, has been cancer free
for 2 years. When we found out that he has testicular cancer they said that
he could of had it for a year to a year and a half. They scheduled the
surgery to remove the testicle the next day and did a chest x-ray and
realized that it has spread into the lungs. He was at a stage 3. He had
the surgery to remove the testicle, then went through 4 cycles of chemo.
When we were all done with chemo and went in for a CT scan his Doctor told
him that he still had several spots on his lungs. From there they sent him
to a lung and heart specialist to do a chest surgery. (They did it like an
open heart surgery) They thought that he had 3 tumors on one lung and 4 on
the other smaller than the size of a pea. When they went in they removed 20
tumors in all and they were all dead of cancer. His doctor told him that
the chemo killed the cancer but did not kill the tumor it self. They found
the cancer in Jan and by August. he was cancer free. He had to go back
every 3 months for check-ups and every 6 months for a CT scan. On our last
visit he uped his visits to every 4 months. I wish your son and you all the
best and I hope that everything works out for him. If you have any
questions about anything just ask maybe we can help you.
Tessa
