I am not a new member but haven't posted in quite some time now. My name is
Tessa Tanton and I am 23 years old, from Texas. In Jan 2000 my husband, now
24 years old, was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer. He was a stage 3. he
started having tremendous pain and couldn't stand it any longer. Several
weeks before he had noticed that one of his testicles seemed firmer that the
other but didn't think any thing about it. When I took him to the emergency
room they immediately did some tests on him and told him exactly what he had
They scheduled the surgery for the next day. They removed the one
testicle and did a chest x-ray and saw that it had spread into his lungs.
After the surgery they moved him to another department of the hospital and
started his chemo. He did 4 cycles of chemo. Every cycle he would have to
be adimitted into the hospital. When he was all finished and we went to the
hospital to get a CT scan and chest x-ray, while praying to god that our
nightmare was over. Got the results back and his doctor said that there
were still several small tumors on both lungs, about the size of a pencil
eraser. He had to have a chest surgery, like they do open heart surgery,
and they found 20 tumers between both lungs. This surgery was in July of
2000 and he has been totally clear. PRAISE GOD! He has to go for check-ups
every 4 months, when he started out is was every 3 months and his doctor has
recently uped the visits. At the time he was diagnosed we had a little girl
that wasn't even a year old. She is our little miracle. His doctor tells
him all he can do is try. If it is meant to be for us to have another baby
then we will if not then we won't. We would love to have one more, but our
little Macy is our little miracle baby. She is now 3 years old and the love
of our lives. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, I might be able
to help and I might not. When going through something like this you really
have to learn a lot. Even though I wasn't the one with the cancer I had to
resume a lot of responsibilities about his illness and how to take care of
him, what he could and could not do, and medicine and shots that had to be
administered. Well thanks again, for hearing our story. Hope to hear from
you all.
Thanks again,
Tessa & Sandy
