I'm sorry to hear about this, sounds like you've been misdiagnosed
for far too long. Good thing you found a doctor that at least knew
what he was doing. This is one of my greatest fears of doctors, that
they only guess on far too many issues and miss the actual problem,
thereby treating a symptom rather than the cause of it.
Obviously my situation was nowhere near what yours is, I wish there
was something I could say to help, but unfortunately there isn't, I
don't know what I could say. One thing you should do, in my opinion,
although it won't help with your current situation, is speak to a
lawyer about going after the first doctor, at least do what you can
to help keep this or any other misdiagnosises happening to anyone
else. It's a hard thing, and I've seen it far too many times, doctors
seem to think they know all there is, and they don't really. Only a
very few do have the ability to look beyond the symptom and consider
that there's something more than what might be obvious.
I wish you all the best in your treatment and recovery, you're not
alone.
