I didn't try it on the forehead. I just used it on the pits like I'm
supposed to. By the second day of use I noticed I started to itch a lot
around my armpit. The next day I looked in the mirror and I could see a
really gross rash developing around my back and armpit area. It was
bad. It was red bumpy and itchy. I threw it right out and now I'm
really hesitant to get any treatment for my hyperhydrosis.

Paper towels in your pockets. A cotton handkerchief to hold in your
right hand. Dark cotton pants.

Stay away from caffeine and sugar. A nice cup of camomile tea will
help you relax.

Good luck with the interviews.

I would respectfully suggest that the reason that you are a virgin is
that you are 17, not because of hyperhidrosis.

Take it easy and try to relax. Hyperhidrosis is a pain. It makes it
very difficult when you are in situations that require shaking hands.
Do not choose a career as a car salesman or a politician.

It is not an impediment to sex. Sex is supposed to be hot and sweaty.
Palmar Hyperhidrosis can actually be a sex aid. (Think lubrication)

Be patient. Find the right person and things will work out fine.

Good luck,

-Paul

put saran wrap on a part of your body you dont give a fck about. i.e.
your feet. that way all your sweat will be concentrated there.

I'm a teacher and I have that problem too during interviews. I have
taken rubbing alcohol and powder in my car and rubbed the alcohol on
and a little bit of powder (so it may absorb the sweat) so it doesn't
rub off on anyone. That is the only advice I have and it isn't
wonderful advice and not sureproof.

I'm a 17 year old female and I feel your pain, I mean my hands sweat as
I type this. You really shouldn't be thinking about suicide, especially
over sweat. Life could be much much worse. What you need to do is talk
to your parent or guardian and ask them to set up an appointment with a
dermatologist that treats hyperhydrosis and ask him or her for
treatment options, and there are plenty. Fing out more info on a
website such as the one for the international hyperhydrosis society.
Don't let it get to you. I'm sure you feel alone, but everyone has
their own problems, just because ours are visible doesn't mean that
it's the worst.

best of luck

I'm sorry you feel that way. HH is a horrible condition. Have you been
to a doctor about this? Usually a family doctor isn't an expert in HH
but dermatologists can be of some help. I have one who has treated a few
people but he is willing to learn all he can about HH and welcomes
anything that I have learned.

Sometimes medications can help. Some people have been helped with
Rubinol and Propantheline. As far as I know and what I've researched
nothing is a cure. If you opt for surgery there is usually compensory
swetaing. Some have treid Drysol and Certain Dri. Others have tried the
Drionic machine or Fischer's MD1A Iontophoresis machine. I use
Propantheline and the Iontophoresis machine. I am not cured but using
both helps tremendously.

Whatever you do I would strongly recommend that you
try iontophoresis before you try anything else. For me
it really has worked; completely! As someone else has
mentioned this is not a cure but for me it does stop
my hands sweating completely, likewise for my feet. My
treatment lasts for around 2 months before I need
top-up treatments but for the sake of home treatments
6 times a year I have dry hands and feet; heaven.
Tap water iontophoresis works on 85% of sufferers
(although less for feet than hands) If your in the UK
I would recommend the Idrostar but if in the Drionic
is one of your options but the mechanics don’t sound
as good as the UK machine and I’ve read a lot of
complaints about it.
Hope this helps
Carl

I bought an Iontophoresis machine from someone and have been pretty
pleased with the results. It took 10+ hours for it to START working. It
probably took closer to 15 - 20 hours for it to really work. I used it
frequently for several hours a week after that for several months. I
have not used it since the end of July. I probably need to start using
it again. It has not "cured" me but I don't sweat near as much as I did.

I highly recommend it. I have used it for feet and hands. I have the
axillae pads but I have only used them minimally.

I also take 15 mg of Propantheline. I would like to TRY to stop the
Propantheline and only use the Iontophoresis machine. I also put salt or
baking soda in the trays. That seems to make it more effective.

Hi there HH...hey I was in your shoes too...the biggest thing I can tell you is to have explain to your parents how bad this is making you feel.  They can get you to your doctor and then he can have you see a dermatologist for in depth testing.  From there Im sure he can recommend quite a few things once he knows what your problem area is/are...face? Hands and feet..etc..etc..
I just dried out something that my doctor prescribed me, its called Dri Sol...it seems to work a little...

I have HH on my feet, hands and underarms. I take propanthelin (15 mg)
at night. If it is really bad (in the middle of the summer or under
stressful conditions) I take 2 tablets every other night. I started the
Iontophoresis machine MD1a from the Fischer company. Unfortunately you
can only get it by prescription. If you can get your doctor to prescribe
it then it will really help you. After 3 months I only have to use the
machine about once a week. I think doing both really helps. I don't
feel like I'm cured by any means but doing both helps so much more than
not doing anything. I used to sweat profusely.

Hi Joe.  Welcome to the group.  There aren't many post these days, but never the less, there are lots of HH sufferers out here still looking for hope and help.  I've recently found out my oldest daughter has excessive underarm sweating and is looking for something to help her out.  She must have gotten this from me. :(  My worst problems are my hands and feet.  The hand HH bothers me the most as one might understand.  She did seem to sweat more than the other kids when she was younger.  My younger daughter is only 12 and at this point I don't think she has any HH problems.  I was so hoping neither one would inherit this dreaded problem.  I recently bought my daughter Certain Dri an over the counter antipersperant so I am hoping this will help her.  I see that it has greatly altered your life as it did mine.  There are others on this group who take prescription meds for this and if you search the archives you may find out what they are.  I can't remember the name of the meds right now so I don't want to give you the wrong info.

Take care,
Jackie

I gave up a medical assistant course I was in because I would get

would notice and ask if I was okay which just made me feel more on
the spot and I would sweat even more. I normally carry a bandana

sweat "normally" I on the other hand would be "swimming"!
I have noticed though that my nine year old son when outside playing
with other children would come in for a glass of water similarly
dripping in sweat, same location,i.e. the face. It doesnt seem to
phase him although I heard one of the kids saying they didnt want to
touch him because he was too "sticky".
I dont want him going through the same things I did growing up and
stunt him emotionally. I have asked his mother to inform his doctor
of this immediately. For myself I am calling up my insurance
carrier and see what can coverage, if any, they have for
hyperhidrosis. I did speak to my PCP a few months back and she
prescribed DriSol. I applied it to my trouble area, the
forhead, temple areas and it helped a little but just was
irritating.

Hello folks!??I am suffering from excessive facial
sweating. Not only I sweat too much during hot
weather, but also situations like stress, and
embarrising moments make things even worse. ??I tried
driclor and I am not satisfied with the result. Now, I
ordered probanthine from Canada and will let you know
the result in detail. As I am writing from my mobile
phone, I am keeping it short for now.?

Dear Gavin,

I've recently ordered 100 pcs. of probanthine from
www.drugdelivery.ca They sent it from New Zealand to Turkey and I received it a
few hours ago. I don't know if they are selling a trial dose or not. I took my
first dose of 15 mg. and waiting to see the effect. I am heavily suffering from
facial HH, especially on my forehead.

I will let you know about the
result. Best wishes. Baris.

Hello SF group. Can someone direct me to an online pharmacy where i can purchase
a trial dose (10 or 30 tabs of 15mg), by the way, is the effect quite immediate
or should I expect to wait one week like Robinul before I can feel the effects?
Should I start with 15mg/day? Unfortunately, it is not anymore available in
Switzerland.

Thank you again!

I received the ditropan prescription through my family doctor. He looked into it and said he would let me give it a try. I haven't searched for it online.

Hi All,

I know there are many here who take Dirtopan with little side effects, but I have severe dry eye syndeome due to an illness I had and I'm so afraid if it causes dry mouth, it will also be detrimental to my eyes.  I have to use eye drops all through the day and eye ointment at night to keep my eyes moist.  Do you get your Dirtopan prescriptions from a dermatologist or a regular MD?  Can you buy it online?

Thanks, Jackie

Gavin,

The "dry fit" clothes can be found on ebay or any sport store. Most runners use these clothes to keep cool and dry in a run. While these clothes are more of a mesh material that keeps the sweat off your body, they sell for a pretty penny.

Also, I've been using Ditropan, generic is Oxybutynin, to stop sweating. I take 1 5mg tablet 2-3 times per day, depending on when I wake up/go to bed. I've been using it since the beginning of 2002 and I have no side effects.

Best of luck,
Adam

Thanks to all who answered about Propantheline. I will give it a try. Glycopyrrolate/Avert/Robinul is helping but this year I had to increase the doses to a point where it's not recommended (actually 10 to 12 mg/day instead of 8mg/day for 80kg).

Has anyone had to increase the initial maximum dosage over the 1mg per 10kg with/without problems?

I have heard about clothes that "keeps you cool/cold", made with special tissues. Can anyone recommend me a brand please?

Best wishes for a cool summer to all... I live in Switzerland where the temperature has not lowered since now 2 weeks (>30-35 celsius).
