Hello all,
I am a 28 yo male with underarm HH.
Well....I WISH I could say if I were happy or not with the outcome of
my ETS surgery....I am one of the lucky (anything but) one who cannot
have the procedure performed. I just found out a couple of days
ago. Ya see, I have had whats called a pluerodesis - my lung has
been adhered to my rib cage making it "not in my best interest" to
have the surgery according to my thoracic surgeon. The above was
performed due to two collapsed lungs. So, for the ETS to happen my
lung would need to be ripped from rib cage...I called around to a
couple of other surgeons and got one resounding reply "most people
tried to get OFF of the Titanic, not on". Anyway, I have eclipsed
the point of desperation and am now just trying to deal/live with
HH.
In the past I have tried the following: accupunture (waste of time),
drysol (ouch), drionics, deoderant pastes, botox (really ouch).
I do offer one suggestion (for guys anyway)....I have purchased Van
Heusen dress shirts with stain shield and have had WONDERFUL
success!! It seems to block the sweat well....and I thought I had
pretty severe underarm HH.....I know, define "severe".....if a guy
lost his arm just below or above the elbow would it really be any
less severe?....we all suffer with this condition if it is arm,
hands, feet, etc. According to Van H. the length of time that the
shield is on can be prolonged - do not use fabric softener and do not
dry for long (approx. 10 min then hang dry). Granted, I still get
home from work and feel DISGUSTING like I have two wet diapers under
my arms...but the outward appearance is EXCELLENT.
I'm sure you can tell I have a flair for the dramatic....but the
shirts do help and if it helps anyone else I truly am ECSTATIC. Good
luck....and if anyone else tries a different brand of shirt with
stain shield I would LOVE to know if/how they work.
Thanks,
