Hi Melissa -
I am sorry to hear your news, and wish you the best of luck. I am an ALL
survivor - was diagnosed in April 2004, and just this month finished
chemotherapy. It is a difficult journey, but with the right care, the survival
rates are pretty good. The two most objective internet sources about treatment
for your disease are the national cancer institute's website (cancer.gov) and
the leukemia and lymphoma society's website http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org.
The biggest decision you will probably have to make early is whether or not
you need a bone marrow transplant, and if so, where to have it done. I didn't
need one, instead I was treated under a special protocol at Dana Farber cancer
institute in Boston. If you do need one, there are also very good hospitals in
Seattle, Houston TX (MD Anderson), New York (Sloan Kettering) and Baltimore
(Johns Hopkins) that specialize in this.
Best of luck and feel free to post again as needed.
Lauren
