Hi everyone my name is Robert, I have a 2 1/2 year old son named
Ethan who was dx(diagnosed) with A.L.L.(lymnphoblastic type)April 29,
2005, after suffering from what his Peds.and Family P.T. both thought
it to be just a simple cold. Ethan was tired more than ussual and was
running a 99* temp. for two weeks, accompianied by a dry caugh. It
wasn't until his obvious Anemia, that the Dr. raised any question
about Ethans health. There was no unexplained bruising, it just
looked like a childs cold drawn out a little. Ethan was sent from
Providence Hospital to University of South Alabama Childrens and
Womens Hospital, where we were introduced to Dr. Wilson; who we were
told was a Hematologist, but what we didn't know was she was a Hema
slash/ Oncologisthe. They didn't want to scare us, until they had
more facts. Ethan dx, at the time was if he had already been
pronounced dead, the devestation was over whelming. The told us that
if we had hesitated and waited, if Ethan had not been transfused that
night, he most likely would have died in his sleep, from the
depleated blood. His chemo has truly been the hardest road to travel.
He has had Staff, he's on his second port, between April and The end
of August we were only home maybe three weeks. October was our best
month. Went back into the Hospital Nov. 3, went home for two day for
Thanksgiving, returned and stayed there until Jan. 7, 2006 and have
been here now for the last 2 days but may get out this evening. So we
can go home to mommy and the new baby. These months have been a real
learning experience, but truly a lesson my son could have gone with
out. He is such a good boy, I can tell he knows we're tring to help
and even when mommy and daddy are part of the hurt, he still wants to
hold us when the pain is over.
Ethans Dad, Robert
