Hello everyone, my name is Michael Grider. I live in Knoxville,
Tennessee. I am a student at the University of Tennessee in
Knoxville, and I am trying to raise money to help the Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society. I will be participating in the Light the Night
Walk in Knoxville on Sept. 30, 2004 to raise funds to help fight
cancer.
Proceeds from this event will go to funding research, education, and
patient services for people with some form of blood cancer --
Leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and Myeloma.
-There are more than 617,000 people in the United States who are
fighting blood cancers.
- Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with
blood cancer.
- Every nine minutes, someone dies from blood cancer.
- Leukemia is the leading cause of disease-related death among
children under the age 15.
- Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence
increases with age.
- The myeloma survival rate is only 30 percent, and incidence is
twice as high for African Americans as for all other races.
These are just some to the reasons to help fund this wonderful
cause. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has made it extremely easy
for you to donate securely online by providing me with a website
through active.com.

I understand that not everyone is financially able to donate, but
you may be able to volunteer your time, or you may know someone who
would like to help fund the gallant cause.
Please at the very least forward the above URL to your friends and
family so that they have the opportunity to help hundreds of
thousands of children and adults.
Feel free to verify the legitamacy of my participation in this event

Society.
