This group is for folks who sungaze. This practice of looking directly at the sun is commonly called sungazing, sun gazing, solar healing, solar gazing, solargazing, solarhealing, sun staring, Sun Yoga, Surya Yoga and Solar Yoga. This list group does not exist to proselytize or promote sungazing, but rather to share information for those who already sungaze. The list is eclectic and is NOT married to any one tradition or style of sungazing, nor to any of the sungazing cults or "religions". I have been sungazing since 1987, and have met over 300 sungazers in my life, including the religious fundamentalist and self-styled sungazing guru Hira Manek; I have also corresponded with many well-known sungazers, including Sunyogi Umasankar and Dimbeswar Basamatary. I started this group in late in October 2003 to support all sungazers. Sun gazing has been practiced in a number of cultures, including many early traditional cultures around the world, including Tibetan Yoga and traditions of QiGong (Chi Kung) such as BaKua (BaGe) and Tai Chi. The practice has sometimes been called Solar Yoga in Tibet and India, although most modern traditions of Solar Yoga are rather "diluted" and do not involve staring at the sun.

The purpose of this group is to offer support and advice to folks who have chosen to sungaze, and for sungazers to share experiences. This is not a place to attack the practice nor attack sungazers; such is forbidden.
While we cover all aspects and traditions of sungazing, this is NOT a place to blindly proselytize your favorite sungazing guru or cult; attempts to do so will be dealt with firmly and harshly.

Sunyogi Umasankar, Hira Manek and many long-term sungazers belong to this list group and may share their experiences at times.

The list owner is Vinny Pinto, a degreed scientist who has been a life-long student of methods of achieving greater levels of health, vitality, well-being and love. Vinny is also a mystic and a spiritual healer.
