Rony,
I am not sure about the rates, but a couple of weeks ago I came back from a 3 weeks visit to India, it really depends where are you going in India. I was in the North and there is no worry about Malaria at all. Actually the Meningitis out break was causing other travellers a bit of a panic as it was in the North as well, but there was nothing worrying there.
As for info about malaria prophylaxis, you can refer to
Which mentions
Malaria Officinalis (Rate: 3174) as one of the most frequently used anti-malarials
It also mentions a Malarial Nosode (sold at Helios) consiting of 4 remedies
1) Falciparum (Rate: 50454)
2) Vivax (Rate 40743)
3) Ovale (couldn't locate rate)
4) Malariae (Rate 60323)
Other remedies like Chel and China are also known to be used
Wishing you a pleasant trip
May
