I want to let EVERYONE
know who is going through the battle
with Gastric Cancer...

My Dad was diagnosed in November, Stage 4 Gastric Cancer. He faced a
7% survival rate accd'g to U.S. stats and treatments. We did not
settle for this and began to research. With the help of doctors and
nurses in our family and network, we arrived at information everyone
should know!!!

Firstly, Gastric Cancer is not common in the U.S. so it gets little
attention, and few treatments are tried. In Japan, Brazil, etc. it's a
totally different story. We looked into the surgery offered in
Japan...it's called a Modified D2...they take out the whole stomach
and over 30 lymph nodes. This alone brings up the survival rate by
20%. Find a doctor that is familiar with this surgery!!!

Secondly, we were then told that the triple chemo treatment (highly
toxic) was orthodox procedure, alongside some radiation. Again, we
walked away. We found out that Xeloda/Capecitabine has been used
throughout Asia and parts of Europe for years, and is AS EFFECTIVE, IF
NOT MORE, than what we use in the U.S. It is less toxic, and can be
taken at home!! It's only approved for Breast Cancer in the U.S. but
there are a few doctors who will prescribe it for you...We decided to
go with treatment at Meridian Medical Group, NYC. They added in
lab-strength ECGC and we are importing Lentinan which has been
medically-proven to up the strength and effectiveness of the Xeloda.
He is on a good bit of vitamins too, and another booster. He is doing
awesome....has almost no side effects at all, his counts are great, he
goes to work, eats like crazy, plays with the kids!!

You won't find much sympathy or encouragement from the U.S. community
even though this type of treatment is trialed, proven, found on
Medline. It's pathetic!! In fact, I'm doing a benefit to raise
awareness because I'm sick of how this country does little to promote
anything outside it's own interests...oncologists are not much needed
for daily care of a cancer patient if the patient can take the drugs
at home.

Anyway...I want everyone to know!! With this treatment, his survival
rate is now at 53%. Beats the heck out of 7%!!

Keep up your hope. Keep up your
fight. Blessings and prayers to all. Feel free to contact me for more
info.

Hi. I am sorry about your mother. It is terrible to go through this with our families. Do you know if they removed any lymph nodes, and if any were positive? ...
