Hi there everyone,
Im back from one of my Greek trips, again....lol. I would like to
say I had a great time, but cant! I lost my passport whilst out
there and so had to spend the week litterally going from the British
Embassy to the police station and back 3 times to the station and 4
times to the embassy before I got a temporary emergency passport
within hours of me due to fly back home, and then when I get to the
aiport the early hours of Friday morning, my flight had been
cancelled and nobody decided to tell us. whaaaaaaaa!!!!
And I have this urgh cold..that I had prior to going to Greece which
Im really having to think about going to see my doc about now as its
lasted so long. Oh and did I say that my 25 year old niece who came
with me to Athens had dislocated her knee the first day we arrived?!

Needless to say the things I had to do out there which was to sort
out my property tax and some other things I had to sort out was all
pushed to the side meaning that eventually I have to go back out
there again.
All I can say is thank God I have my mothers family out there, cos I
would not have gotten it sorted out. Here's a tip for those of you
travelling. PHOTOCOPY YOUR PASSPORT. INSIDE AND OUT, TO INCLUDE YOUR
PASSPORT NUMBER AND DATE OF ISSUE. THOSE OF YOU WHO, LIKE ME HAVE
BORN IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY TO THE ONE YOU RESIDE IN AND OUR A CITIZAN
OF MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A COPY OF ALL THE DETAILS OF YOUR PARENTS OR
GRANDPARENTS. BASICALLY ANYTHING TO PROVE YOU ARE A CITIZAN OF THAT
COUNTRY. These were the reasons I spent the whole week in the
embassy because even though I was born in Greece, I didnt have any
details of my parents.
Anyways, Im back now, and although I have a cold Im fine just tired
of the whole thing. Gonna get me strength back up again and will
feel better soon.
Hope you are all feeling good.
love and hugs to you all
Sandara

Welcome home, Sandara!!!!
I am sorry to hear your trip wasn't all that you expected but am so glad you are home safe and sound.....even tho' you have that nasty cold.  Get some rest and take it easy.
I had a passport only once in my life.....when I went to Germany in 1961.  It was such a bother I am glad I don't have to deal with that on an ongoing basis.   Thanks for the advice.
It is good to see you back......I have finally ordered more memory....(for my computer--lol) and hope to be able to get back into the chat soon.
Missed you!
Hugs, Sandy

Hi there.. I am awake because I itch. this is maddening. Anyhow.. Sandy.. I was looking thru some supplies and found those disposable bags you wanted to know about.. they are made by Osmore and the insert says 1-800-686-1377. I know that company changed its name, but hopefully that number is the same or it will lead you to another number.

There is a website I found and one posting has all these companies you can call for free samples. I don't know how to get that list and then put it on this site, so if anyone does know how to do that and wants to do that, let me know and I will attempt to tell you how to find it. ha ha

I have a thought on all those horrible cramps I was getting. Maybe it ws simply not enough water.ANd that when I drink a whole glass of water,  it is just too much for the system. I don't know. just a thought.

I must try and get back to sleep now. I have been working the afternoon - midnite shift and it messes me up the next day, because I can't come home and fall right asleep, so I stay up and get on the computer and then fall asleep around 2 or 2:30 Am and then if I don't get enough sleep, I have a hard time staying up past midnite to make it home/drive. The shift is not good for me I think. I like it because you avoid rush hour and hardly anyone stays that late, so you are kind of on your own at work and sometimes the work runs out, so you can just read a book or a newspaper quietly at your desk till it's time to punch out. But, I have NOT been walking at all, because I wake up just in time to make a few phone calls and then get to work. Maybe run one needed errand a day. I need to walk.

ANyone keep walking as a daily thing in their life and how?? It is too late and too dark and scary to walk at midnighe, although I did once at owrk with someone else who got off then. That was great. But she doesn't always work there at nite. I asked another woman who does to walk with me last nite and when I punched out, she was gone. GUess she didn't want to walk!1

Thanks Deb for the phone number....I know how that itching can be.....I hope you find some solution soon......Shift work.....wow....that can take a toll on your body....I am a day person but my sister was a night person and loved night work.....I am lucky if I can make it past 2:00 AM.  Do you work nights all the time?
About the water problem.....Michael Thurmond recommends 100 ounces of water a day.  My daughter and I buy bottled water and keep it by our side all day long.   That is 6 of these bottles a day.....Easy to do and easy to keep in the fridge.  Hydration is a problem for those of us that have an ileostomy.  And, it helps with weight control.
Walking.......I do my best to walk each day....Just a walk to the mail box is enough for me.
Thanks Kathy for the links to the liners and other interesting sites.  I spent a lot of time checking them out.....and wish there were more sites here in the U.S.

Have any of the ileostomy folks ever used any of the liners?  If so, how did they work for you?
Hugs, Sandy

Hi Sandy,
I think the liners work best for people with a colostomy. Ileostomy output is too watery for them.
A pity really, they sound great.

Hi there everyone,
just wanted to touch base with you all. Its been oh so quiet round
here this past week. I hope everyone is doing alright.

I did go to chat last week, although it was late, I have to confess,
and I know there was some of you in there earlier than me because
Gerrard and Widget told me. Gerrard is a member of our group, and
Widget is a very nice person we met in the chat room. Im hoping to get
in there on time this week, if not on time, then at least not as late
as I was last week.

wishing you all health, peace and happiness, and wealth if your in
need, lord knows, I could do with some right now :-) but like my mama
used to say, health is the most important thing. bless her.

take care

Hi Sandara;

I hope to make it to chat this week. I was in the hospital last week due to severe dehydration and food poisoning. I am still not on solid food but my hydration is back where it needs to be. I feel 1000 times better than last week. I hope all is well with everyone and I hope to chat with you all tomorrow......

it very difficult for me to come online and do my duties here, but
Sandy is here, and Lin too and I am also albeit not altogether.

I will be better soon and back to my usual self, please God. Please

You take care of things in your personal life first. Sandy and I will be here for everyone. It is very understandable that you need to take care of personal issues before on line. Take your time and we will be here when you get back.

How you all doing? its been a long time since I posted, and that is due to
complications with my knee. For me, my knee problems being a birth defect and
having a knee replacement has been a huge trial for me. I am struggling daily to
walk. I have good days and bad days, but mostly even on a good day I am having
to use pain killers too much I think. So its been a bit of a rough ride.
Anyways, enough about me.

How is everyone else doing? if you feel up to it, give me an update.

I wish you all well, take care
Sandara

Hi Sandara;

I am doing OK. I am in the middle of getting another service dog as Gibson is going on 10 yrs old. I bought another standard poodle but this time it is black and a female. We are naming her Twilite. Joe and I will be training her when we get her in September. She was born May 19, 2009.

hey sandara - will here - sorry to hear the knee is giving you probs. damn that knee. hope you find somehow, some way to make it better. i've been doing fine. no relapses of those terrible infections. (wheres the wood i must knock)? there.

i picked up painting last year & have pumped out about 80 pieces so far. its a blast. also managed to get an art studio in downtown san diego. right now i'm finishing up the 1st in a series of 3 large canvas works centering on insects. real fun.
