Hello Dianna~
It has been my experience with any kind of steroid, that there isn't
a whole lot you can do to lose weight from that other than be
patient. I don't think that a bypass will work for that. It has to
get completely out of your system first, and that process is slow. I
have to get shots for migraines quite often. Regular meds for this
do nothing for me, especially being time released type because of my
ileostomy. In all acutality, dropping any soda's or sugarry drinks
and doing a lot of water helps to flush the steroids out of your
system. I have gained too much weight from these shots too. I have
tried everything I can afford to try to get this off. But my
endocrinologist educated me on the steroid factor. Good luck in
whatever you choose to do. It's tough, I know. I've had ppl ask me
how I can be 210 lbs with very little bowels in which to digest and
store fat. I wonder too. Be easy on yourself and just stay
determined.

bypass and the doctor that does this type of surgery said there
would be no way he would do it. He said that a person with an ostomy
needs to drink at least 64 ounces of fluid a day to stay hydrated
and because you can only drink or eat 1 ounce 6 times a day I would
have to live on IV's for hydration. My life would be more
compramised than if I just did it by diet and exercise. Then he told
me that I would have to stick to a diet and exercise anyway so
really doing the surgery is just a fullness help and nothing more.
He said in time you will be full at a smaller amount anyway. I think
it is a HUGE risk.
