Bob & Alice -
I will keep you both in my prayers as the testing is done. I hope it is nothing too serious and can be treated with medication.
As far as the stones go they were tested when they did the emergency removal in Febrauary of the 10 MM stone and it is caused by chronic infections from having the urostomy so many years (almost 40). They said at this point there is nothing I can do but form and pass them. OH JOY !!! But God helps me through the pain and gives me comfort.
Please let us know how you and Alice are doing. Please keep us posted on what they find. We are here to support you and Alice.
God Bless;
Linda

Hi Linda & everyone else,What a very positive report other than the kidney stones. You have been blessed of the Lord through the kindness of others, including the anonymous "angel". You certainly must have investigated diet if you know what type of "stones" are forming. Sometimes a change in diet and a simple supplement can stop that from happening.As for an update from me.......I have not been posting since so many in the Group are Colostomies and I have a urostomy which has been quiet and well behaved for a long time now. My main medical problem has been Anemia which has been a bother for some time now. We think it all started over 2 years ago, but only showed up as a serious problem that has me limited in my abilities a little over a year ago. I tried to find an answer from my GP and there was little he could do so I then arranged to have an upper GI done to look for bleeding, but waited until my surgeon was able to offer a new procedure called a "Small Bowel Capsule Endoscopy" which uses a Capsule that contains a miniature camera which is swallowed and then takes pictures of the entire upper GI tract, including the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, and all of the small intestines as it travels through the system until it is finally expelled in a bowel movement. It take about 8 hours to travel the whole length, but cannot do the large bowel. The report came back clean of any problems and no bleeding. The thing was so accurate and clear that it even showed a suture where the Ileum was removed to construct my urinary conduit for the stoma.This did not solve the problem of where the anemia is coming from, if bleeding is the culprit, and I finally had to see a Hematologist just this past week. He had new blood factors run and I am now even worse than before the low Hemoglobin problem first showed up. Males should run a Hemoglobin level of between 14.0 to 18.0 and I am now showing 8.0, therefore I am weak, dizzy most of the time, suffer anxiety symptoms, shortness of breath, loss of strength, vitality and endurance. The Hematologist was very concerned and has ordered me to go in hospital Monday, (tomorrow) to be transfused with whole blood.....how much I am not sure.....to get things back up to a normal level. I am also scheduled to have a new Colonoscopy done since he wants to see if bleeding is in the large colon, but since it also seems there is something slowing down the production of Red Cells or "eating them up" he wants a "Bone Marrow Biopsy" done also, and a Cat Scan as well. I should be in and out of hospital in two days or three at most. After that we will know more.My wife Alice is doing fine with her Urostomy.... no problems and she stays busy. I am just unhappy that I have been unable to help around the house and in the yard chores we need to keep up with as each season passes. I expect this to change soon! As God's Word says in one place..."I am the Lord which heals you!"......and again....."No weapon formed against you (me) shall prosper!"Other news form VA USA is that because of years of drought and semi-drought we finally had our dug water well get too low and we had to bite the bullet, so to speak, and pay the price to have a deep well drilled. They got good water at 320' and we now have all the water we need since we are in the deep aquifer and the water has come in sweet and cold. Well drilling causes some mess, and there is much work needed to grade and clean up the yard of excess dirt and clay that came up from the drilling.Today I am taking it easy as usual, and am all ready to go to hospital and check in tomorrow morning around 9 AM. After that I will go through the testing and hope to be back home by Wed. at the latest.Linda.....I know you will enjoy your new power ramp.....what a blessing for you, and God will richly bless that person who was used to meet the final need of the money for the ramp.Have a good day........Bob Query----- Original Message -----From: i_poofSent: Saturday, April 26, 2008 5:09 PMSubject: [stomacentralint] Please post update
Hi everyone-
Thought we should do another update since the group has been very quiet lately.
Please post as to what you have been up to and give us a little update on your life so we can share your good times and (hopefully not) bad times.
I will start:
My friends from my church held a benefit for me to be able to purchase me a power ramp for my van so I can take my power wheelchair with me when I go places. At the end of the benefit they were still short $700.00. There was a person in the bar that overheard them say this and came in after the benenfit and wrote out a check for $700.00. I wanted to send them a Thank You and they made it a point of stressing they wanted to be anonymous. So I was able to order my ramp on April 9th and we are still waiting for it to come in. I am getting excited now that it is spring here.
Also on the same day of the benefit was my our (hubby and I) 17 year wedding anniversary. He got me a cordless iron which I always wanted. So I was very pleased.
I am back to volunteering again 2 to 3 days a week for my friend that owns an all natural dog treat store. She does her own baking and coats and toys. Gibson and I love it. We get to see new people all the time and Gibson loves it because he gets the broken cookies.
I saw the Urologist and he said that there is no option as surgery goes for me to get rid of the Urostomy and the kidney stones. I also was told that in 6 weeks I have formed 2 more kidney stones. This time they are 5.5 MM and 5 MM. The doctor is hoping I can pass these without emergency surgery like last time. I sure hope so.
Linda
