Hi Jennifer,
There should be a bolus feeding tube that comes with the mic key set, i
generally vent Kait first, by attaching the tube along with a 60cc tube and just
let the air rush out, and then again when finished feeding. Also in the between
feeds, i vent her if need be.
As for the leaking around the stoma, Kait has leaked from the beginning, we
are now on her 4th stoma site as all her others have broken down and the hole
has streched beyond repair, with the skin ulcerating. Have used every type of
cream and powder available, with no success, the best one we have found is one
called Calmosptine ointment, but it is made in Australia, so not sure if you
could get it. It does have its own web site though, here is the address:
www.calmoseptineointment.com.
Hope that is of some assistance to you.

I want to thank everyone that posted and replied. It's so nice to
know that I am the only one that has a child with a mic-key.
Now, for my question.....
How do you reduce the amount of air when you feed or if they have
alot of air/gas.....how do you "get rid of it".
my addison is 5 weeks old, and is having problems with the great
amount of air/gas that she has...she can be uncomfortable during
feedings. I have tried to burp her like a bottle fed baby, to no
help...but i don't want to cause problems in the future by not doing
anything.
Also, has anyone have any problems with leaking...not from the
button but next to the skin and button...it's not bad problems..but
it's irritating her skin and makes like a "diaper rash" on her tummy.
Any one have any tips?
Thank you again.
jennifer
