Hi, everybody. This is my first visit to this group. I am Gerdine, 38
years old form the Netherlands.
Today we visited the genetical expert at the hospital, for the third
time in 3 years. My daughter, who is now 3,5 may probably have
stickler. She has the following symptoms: cleft palate (succesfully
closed at 1 year), loose joints, weak muscles, a small chin. We have
to see an oculist to diagnose if she is near-sighted (risk of retina
problem). I hope this will be soon enough. My sister (who never has
been diagnosed for a thing like Stickler) lost sight in one eye form
retina (when she was 40).
What worries me is that the orthopaedist we consulted about 1 year
ago, diagnosed her with 'kneeing in' and that I don't know if there
is a connection between those things. Kneeing in means that when she
walks she swings her underlegs; it looks as if she has x-legs,, but
that is only when she is walking. He said that it is not a severe
problem, and that in most cases the problem will solve in time. If
the problem persists he can do a surgery to her hips when she will be
12. But i did not tell him about Stickler.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Bye, Gerdine
