Oh, that’s okay. He’s almost 3. He
was without oxygen for about 20 minutes at birth (his cord was in a knot, my
uterus ruptured, and the doctor had gone out to dinner). Full term, 10
pounds. Much calamity and chaos in the delivery room. He wasn’t
expected to survive 5 minutes, but here we are, 3 years later. His body
is healthy and strong – he’s not even on any medication. But
he’s profoundly brain injured, can’t swallow or blink, and has
never smiled. Maybe he’s saving that for when we get some sense and
get stem cell therapy approved in this country!
He is coming around, slowly but surely. We know he’s
in there, and are just praying hard that we’ll find the key to get
him out!
Thanks,
Allison

New to the group with lots of questions
Sorry, I didn't know. How old is your
child? What type of brain injury did your child sustain, if I am not too
bold to ask.

Good information, but that drug is for a genetic disorder, not brain injury. The search continues.
Thanks,
Allison

Subject: RE: [stemcellsafety] Re: New to the group with lots of questionsNot a clue, but I am attaching an article I would like you to read and discuss with your doctor. There may be alternatives to stem cell therapy until it becomes available in the US.It is not an alternative for me but it sounds promising for the type of condition your child has. Again I am not a doctor just a patient doing all the research I can.
