I have done some research and talked to the Research Dept at Rockefeller
Institute. It seems that clinics outside of the US do not have the same
standards at the US hospitals and there are no guarantees as to where
the stem cells came from.

They referenced a patient who had a disease that would progress over a
term of around 20 years. He had the stem cell therapy outside the US
and initially saw some remission. However several months later returned
to the US doctor with fast growing lesions on the brain that were
inoperable and he died shortly thereafter. That was enough for me.

I truely think once we get Bush out of office, stem cell research and
therapy will advance in the US quickly. I am counting on it!

I understand that they have found that stem cells from the fluid
surrounding the fetus have the same properties as stem cells that come
directly from the fetus and can safely be extracted during pregnancy.

Stem cells can be rejected and the closer the match to the child, the
better. Are you thinking of having another child?

I am certain you will want to do more research. I am just a patient
struggeling with an incurable nuerological disease. Good Luck!
