ATC to know what was going on?<br><br>In the
transcripts, it clearly shows this:<br><br>HZ 1:21:40.9 Uh
okay, I am going to take you... Are you able to take a
turn back to the south or do you want to stay closer
to the airport?<br><br>ATC gave Urs Zimmerman a
choice.....the ATC wasn't actually on the plane, so asked the
pilot. The pilot then said he was able to take that turn
to the south. The pilots decision, not ATC's. By
turning down a request to stay closer to the airport, he,
in fact, downplayed the seriousness of the
situation, but that's just my opinion.<br><br>Had he said
"No, no, I need to be as close to the airport as
possible!", then I'm sure ATC would never have sent him out
to sea to dump fuel.
