hello everyone . Hope everyone is holding out ok.
i just came across this article i had written in
our newspaper in jan.1999,re alzheimers.Want to share
it with you.<br> to the editor<br>As you are aware
january is Alzheimer:s Awareness month..I saw on
television that one in 20 canadians over 65 are afflicted
with this disease.<br> My love one is one of those
afflicted. It is a very heart wrenching disease.<br> As a
caregiver, i would like to give people out there who have
relatives or friends who has this disease some
advice.<br>Please visit those loved ones or friends while they
still recognize you. It may be a little uncomfortable
for you but think of what it will do for the
alzheimers victim.<br>They still have feelings and love
hearing about the past. If they don't talk,they
hear.<br>Just a 'hello how are you" may be just what they need
to have a good day...... trees......<br><br>I hope
you all like this when i wrote this my husband was
getting worse he died in july same year...For you new
members i have been there.I know how you all feel.....My
advice is take one day at a time..love them make them
happy...and most of all don't let yourself get burned out.It
took me two years to get to where i am now. I still
grieve.I still miss him..I gave it my all.I took care of
gerry at home.If i would have been his age i couldnt
have done it everyone..I was 13 years younger than
him,It took all i had to take care of him. But i have no
regrets would do it all over again...I know of a couple
at this moment his wife has AD he doesnt have the
heart to place her but i can see he is going to have
to.My heart goes out to him. and to all of you...God
