Hello

Just wanted to intoduce my self, I have a 5 mos. old son, J. with
spina bifida, his lesion is L5-S1. He was born on Christmas eve (of
all days!)and had his first surgery on Christmas day and his shunt
put
in on New Years Eve. Three weeks after his shunt was put in it
starting "leaking". Fluid was dripping from the stiches on his head.
We took him to the emergency room but ironically the "leaking" had
stopped by the time we got there. They ran some test and sent us
home
with instruction to come back if it happened again. Well it did, the
next day, so we took him back again but by the time we got there it
stopped, again. They admitted us for observation but it never
happened
again at the hospital. The doctors didn't seem to concerned, in fact
I
felt like they thought I was crazy! Anyway, it happened a few more
times and then stopped, about two weeks after this incident.
Then about two days ago, I noticed fluid coming out of is head again.
Has any one else had this happen? The doctors seem to think it
is "weird".

The only way to know for sure whether he has spina bifida would be to have an x-ray or MRI of the spine-- an MRI would be more definitive. Best of luck with...
