I would recommend getting tested for autism spectrum disorder. It may put perspective on things and give you some tools if you did find she has a diagnosis.

Could she have an autism spectrum disorder? It could be due to brain damage from the shunt failures, or just the way she was born. Kalen

Abby is L5 S1, her lower half is affected, she has no control over bowl movement, she has a vp shunt in her head and knock on wood no problems,  they are in

Has she ever been around other special needs children? Maybe not just SB kids, but any special needs. I know with my oldest son (who is turning 19 this year)
