Hello All,
It has been an interesting month with WFS and off to a good start,
(75% of those in attendance are from aa, only one had left aa
entirely at this time).
I have a new sponsee, (mentoree) who I met in WFS. We are both
pleased we can share our experiences of aa together, (positive,
community and safe women, negative, almost everything else).
The next meeting I start will be titled:
Topics for Women (not restrictive to our gender, merely a place to
begin). Open-ended on topics: grief, boundaries, communication,
empathy, parenting, listening, community, tools, family,
partnerships, therapy, alt tools, shame, compassion, feelings, needs
lists, emotional intelligence.
I spent two hours on the phone last night with my sister. We are
building a, "sister to sister bond," vulnerable and real at depth.
One of the kindest things my sister has ever said to me when a
comment was made to her that I spend so much time helping women. Her
reply, "My sister has always been like that, big sister to the
world."
I value my family, my community connection of sober women, my career,
and my passion for learning.
On January 2, 2007 I will have 16 years of sobriety. This is the
time in which I not only reflect on the last year but set goals for
the new one.
To all of you, whatever your desires for the coming year, my thoughts
and good will.
From the heart,
Beth
