Hello to All,

Webster's dictionary defines spiritual as, "an elevation of thought
and feeling." This is one one of the terms that I find useful.

I find I am beginning to marry my belief in a non-religious god and
my continued interest in secular humanism.

I was at one time an, "angry athiest," and follwed, what I consider
the, "muddled precepts," of Ayn Rand. Several things turned me away
from her approach, one being that she was not a kind woman. Second,
one of my science professors stated that science does not attempt
to, "disprove," anything, but works with postulates, theories, etc.,
and that by its very nature, "atheism," states a negative, (eg there
is no god). I left Objectivism to become involved with Volitional
Science for five years. I found some things of value, some not. One
was the definintion of god. God: the source of all natural
phenomena.

Deborah and I have had several conversations about god, in reference
to the Women for Sobriety meetings. It is acceptable to state a
belief, "no proselytizing, grandstanding, etc."

I am still very angry with AA, but I know as I process through the
anger I will come to a more balanced view and continue to use what I
learn to help others. Interesting note, for me personally, is to
see some women truly embrace another viewpoint, (out of groupthink),
and others who will refute any new information.

I have some ideas for new meetings that involve both, "deep level
sharing," and skill building, so we'll see. I am reflecting and
talking and this is always an asset.

Beth
