Hello to All,
Twenty years ago I heard Ann Richards speak on a Sally Jesse Raphael
program. She was on a panel of four women. What most impressed me
was the honesty these four women displayed in dealing with their
issues regarding alcohol.
I am mulling over starting another meeting that deals with issues,
that either I never hear about or, those that are rarely discussed.
I wonder how many women, (or men either), walk away from meetings,
not only surrounding the issue of religion, but that they cannot
relate to being force fed a 12 step program?
I do observe, in the same manner, being new to any social/employment
situation, creates discomfort, that the importance of sharing
feelings of awkwardness, etc., at being new is important.
I see this in various online groups, "I don't know if I belong
here." "I am struggling with trying to find my place to fit in."
A meeting as a model ...for helping the person to find their fit.
There are about 30 women now in attendance at my women's meeting,
(for women over 40). Those who are under 40 are smuggled in with
approval :). A watch women with little time, encouraged to speak
what is in their mind with little or no, "slogans or bb quotes."
I need to gain some closure on some of this ...within the next
week. I have a full life, next stage of growth.
