This group was started approximately 18 years ago. Uses the 12
steps as a guide, their book includes safety guidelines, topics for
couples, and has meetings in the San Diego area. I attended three
meetings, and noted that within this group rarely did anyone account
for their behavior or feelings.
PIP Group: Partners in Progress, meetings in Carlsbad and Encinitas,
was using the 12 steps, (once a month), in process of voting to
discontinue the use of the steps due to lack of interest. This
group was started by an MD in AA. The requirement is that one
person in the relationship be in AA. I was told the group has
evolved to the point of the following: Topic discussion, time limit
on sharing, everyone in the couple relationship shares, (or may
pass). I found this meeting to be more in line with group therapy,
self-monitoring, safe, validating. They are also well connected
socially, dinner for those who care to join, before and after the
meeting.
