Hello to All,
Spent the evening reading Rebecca Fransway's book and there is not a
biography of anyone within this book that I cannot relate to.
Devastating to think the number of lives that have been injured in
aa. Journaling in balance over time, I will need to note some
successes and positive experiences that I have had. Most of this
has been with kind and nurturing women. A need for me, due to a
violent, alcoholic childhood. It makes sense to me, over and over,
why I would be drawn in, yet at the same time, how the shaming
behavior within the meetings would lead to internal confusion.
I consider myself accountable to women I mentor, (formerly known as
a sponsor). I am responsible for listening, offering suggestions,
and stating that I am human, and that if anything I suggest does not
work for them, and they find a better way, let me know, it might
help me. I am responsible for nurturting, supporting, and loving
these women, for this is who I am, and what I have to offer. I
encourage personal growth, exploration, of the inside and outside
world. I tell them they are under no obligation to call, or to
attend meetings. If they are seeing a therapist, it is their choice
to let me know what work they are doing with the therapist, and how
I might help.
My bottom line is that I love connecting with sober women. I love
the common interest we have with problem solving, growing,
connecting and community.
I am drawn back again to Robert Ingersoll, secular humanism, which
truly suits me more than any other philosphy.
Into my world.
Beth
