This UK Personality Disorder Spectrum Survey was first reported about on
NowPublic.com
<http://my.nowpublic.com/health/independent-personality-disorder-survey-\
uk-patients> and the report stage is a first of its kind for the UK . As
of today it has been sent to Dr Lynne Jones M.P
<http://www.poptel.org.uk/lynne.jones/> the Joint Chair of the All
Parliamentary sub Committee on mental health and the Care Quality
Commission UK.

Notaxpayers were billed for this survey . No large mental
healthcharities were involved . No lottery funds were used up. It
wasconsulted upon , done, designed and completed by the good spirit
ofP.D. service Users of the UK NHS services . It was truly User-led.
Itwas politically independent, though the Socialist Health
Associationfreely hosted the survey on Surveymonkey.com

Over to the Press release which has all the details :

"TheUser Led U.K. Personality Disorder Spectrum Survey was designed
Onlineafter consultation with UK Service Users and Phil Lockwood a
volunteeradvocate and support who runs a P.D. forum. There is a concern
aboutloss of life (a suicide rate of up to 77%) in the P.D.
spectrumcommunity - (See the UK Dept of Health's "New Horizons" Page 72
quotedin the Survey results)
The UK Wide Personality Disorder Spectrum Survey
<http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=FgjD5hpDXCCMeqRbbRLTWw_3d_3d> was
hosted in May 2009 by the Socialist Health Association and withMartin
Rathfelder's help who also helped promote it . It was also aidedin
promotion by the National Association of LINks members and theirChair,
Malcolm Alexander .
Thereport and independent stewardship of the survey was completed by
PaulBrian Tovey an Independent Mental Health Monitor and Service
User. There was no cost to the taxpayer. All effort was voluntary.
ByOct 2009, 134 UK NHS Service Users had completed the survey . The
vastmajority of the Service Users were women (102) . Most respondents
(97)mainly self attributed the often co-morbid condition-description
ofBorderline Personality Disorder to themselves.
The NHS mainly offered medication to most of the respondents (109).
Therespondents (109) in Question 11. however, mainly wanted therapies
andgood social supports and when asked in their own words trended
stronglytowards a mixture of those. The NICE guidelines of Jan 2009
statesmedication should only be used in crisis.

The respondents when asked if the NHS was adequate for their needs
stated :
No - 52% (70 Users) Sometimes - 43% ( 58 Users) Yes - 4.5% (6 Users)
When asked if respondents had Care Co-ordinators and Care Plan
Approaches (CPA's) which included crisis plans (NICE guidelines
<http://www.nice.org.uk/nicemedia/pdf/Borderline%20personality%20disorde\
r%20full%20guideline-published.pdf> support this particularly of
Borderline P.D.)
59% (78 ) stated No . 33% (44) stated Yes.
Itis a cause for some concern. There are many more findings in the
surveywith Users expressing the problems they have had with services in
theirown words .
The Care Quality Commission will be contacted and information offered to
them . 119 NHS Trust or service locations were also named in the
survey ."

Anxiety can often be a regular reaction to stress. Feelings of anxiety can help
you to cope with tense situations at work or to help you maintain focus. It's
thought that anxiety could be a form of coping mechanism within our minds.
Unfortunately within some people anxiety can become uncontrolled and spiral into
an excessive dread of normal daily occurrences.
Some of the symptoms of anxiety can be things like heart palpitations or feeling
as though you're unable to catch your breath. Other people report chest pains or
nausea or even headaches. What's happening is that your brain is sending signals
to your body that makes it prepare itself as though protecting against a
perceived threat. If you were faced with a real physical threat your blood
pressure and heart rate would go up dramatically. Your mind is actually
preparing you for a fight or flight instinctual reaction. These reactions are
the same for anxiety sufferers and display as panic.
Panic attacks are unanticipated feelings of massive anxiety that appear for no
apparent reason. These are far more severe than just feeling a little bit
anxious and these attacks surpass regular feelings of stress. Statistics show
that around 1 person in 75 will suffer through panic attacks during some stage
throughout their lives.
There are people who experience frequent panic attacks to the point that it
completely debilitates their lives. They may begin to avoid anything that
reminds them of where the attack might have happened. For example, if a panic
attack struck in an elevator then that person may associate all elevators as the
cause of the attack. This could then lead to a complete avoidance of any
situation that might involve elevators.
On their own panic attacks are not dangerous. However they are very real and
frightening to the person experiencing them. When the attacks are prolonged or
repeated over time then further complications can occur, like phobias of people
or places, depression, substance abuse and suicidal tendencies.
Facts about Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Each year more than 40 million Americans report being afflicted with some for of
anxiety disorder. The estimated cost of dealing with these disorders is in the
vicinity of $42 billion dollars every year. The enormous amount of people
affected by anxiety or panic related emotional disorders outweighs the amount of
people suffering from issues like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or depression.
Even though a 'blanket' diagnosis of anxiety disorder may be given, there are
several forms of this disorder that vary in the degree of severity and traumatic
duress the person faces.

A sudden attack of fear and anxiety which lasts for a short time is known as a
panic attack. To date scientists have not been able to find an apparent reason
why the panic attacks occur and why some people are more susceptible to these
attacks than others. Panic disorder has often been found to run in families, so
genes seem to play an important role in determining who will get it. However
many people develop it due to their situations and problems they come across.
Panic Attacks mostly come without warning so you hardly have the chance to
safeguard yourself. To get a panic attack help you must be able to recognize it
when it occurs.
Some symptoms of generalized anxiety and panic disorders can be noticed as
under. Having a feeling of dizziness, fainting or sickness; Fast heart
palpitations; Feeling a lack of air and short of breath; Excessive sweating and
urination; Pain in the chest; Feeling like you might be dying. These are the
pre-warnings of a panic attack and anxiety disorder which many people suffer;
but they feel embarrassed to seek for panic attack help. You are not alone
facing this problem and if you suffer from anxiety panic disorder, then you
should not hide it. It is time you ask for some panic attack help!
Different people experience different panic attacks and so the help or the
treatment they go for may be different for different anxiety panic disorders.
You may take this panic and anxiety like waves and should not try to fight your
way through them or else you will tire up yourself. Instead you are suggested to
ride these waves of panic and anxiety as if on the top of them. Though it is
difficult to do but if you can manage to stay on the top of it, you will surely
soon come out of its shadow.

Subject: 3 Amazing Tips For Dealing With Anxiety Attacks

By properly dealing with anxiety attacks you can prevent this problem from
affecting for your day-to-day life. These attacks are so severe that they can
literally rob you of all the opportunities that you can take advantage in your
life. However with a little effort and some changes to lifestyle you can
effectively handle this problem
Here are some simple tips for dealing with anxiety attacks that can help you:
1) One of the reasons for these attacks is negative thinking. And a person
starts thinking about all these negative aspects if his mind is free. So if you
can keep yourself occupied in some activities then you can effectively prevent
the domination of your mind by these negative thoughts. You can do this by
taking up a part time job or pursue some of your favorite hobbies.
2) Try some of the alternative therapies that can help overcome anxiety attacks.
This can be meditation, aromatherapy or even reading self help books. These
techniques are simple and don't cost you thousands of dollars. For self help
books you may just have to visit a local library.
3) There are some herbs and herbal products that help in dealing with anxiety
attacks. These are herbs like passionflower and valerian. At least for mild
depression and anxiety these herbs have proved to be very effective. Go for
herbs and herbal products that are popular. You may have to refer to a few
people to know their experience about a product. You can also search the
Internet forums for customer feedback. And the good part is that you can stop
using these products if you don't like them without any withdrawal symptoms.
If you are looking for a permanent solution go for a complete natural solution.

UK Wide PD Spectrum Survey Achieves 95 Inputs ! 5 to go for 100 !

By UK Health Activist Highcroft Tower

UPDATE :

The UK Wide Personality Disorder Spectrum Survey hosted by the Socialist
Health Association has achieved 95 inputs so far from mental health
service Users . We are pushing for the 100 ! We will take the results
to the Care Quality Commission and other bodies.

YOU MAY DO THE SURVEY AT THIS LINK
<http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=FgjD5hpDXCCMeqRbbRLTWw_3d_3d>

It was started on May 27th 2009 and has been running since then .

[Possible Triggers follow]

It was primarily inspired by the sad death of Kate Logan
<http://my.nowpublic.com/health/launch-users-personality-disorder-uk-sur\
vey-r-i-p-kate> who passed away after sadly not achieving the kind of
help she wanted - it has also been spurred on by the Story of Tabi
Cockerton " A Fairy a Day keeps Abandonment Away"
<http://my.nowpublic.com/health/tabi-fairy-day-keeps-abandonment-away>
. Tabi suffers severe dissociation.

Allies of Tabi are trying to help her get the treatment she needs after
her Trust appears to have pulled the plug on that . A facebook campaign
<http://apps.facebook.com/causes/328250/29572474?m=e74d8d30> has
started and is backed so far by 204 people . People can sign up to it
and recruit others .

There is no doubt that in some parts of the PD community UK wide there
is a level of great need for help and precious little facilitation of
that sometimes .

Subject: Stop a Panic Attack - 4 Killer Tips That Work
fenldkerrmpi

Do you want to stop a panic attack? Have you ever felt extreme nervousness even
when you're in a normal situation that has never bothered you before? Some
people feel tightness within their throats, may experience dizziness, or even
have extreme excessive worries or unwanted thoughts. Most people who suffer from
panic and anxiety attacks have dealt with them for many years, and they
typically exhaust themselves looking for self-help in the forums, and websites.
The truth is that there are certain ways that will help you control your
attacks.
1. Thing thoughts that relax you.
Your thoughts lead to what you feel, and your feeling lead to how your behavior
is. If you are always thinking negative thoughts, then your more than likely to
have negative feelings, some of which you will experience as a panic. But if you
think of thoughts that relax you, then you are going to be much more relaxed and
calm.
2. Exercise
Exercise is very good when things get too overwhelming. Short walks, or short
workouts help a lot too. Personally for me, I like to go out to a big field
behind my hour and walk around the small lake. Sometimes I take my golf club
with me and hit balls around the lake. For me, this makes me feel very relaxed.
When you exercise, you are focusing away from the trigger of panic to something
that is far more constructive. Exercise is a big factor that helps counter
stress and anxiety.
3. Rest. Plenty of rest
When you are low on rest, stress is built up in you, and you are more
susceptible to a panic attack. You need plenty of rest, so that you always feel
fresh.
4. A healthier diet
I recommend getting rid of sodas and high sugared drinks. Make sure you are
getting enough fruits and veggies. This is a lot more important than you might
think. It sounds kindergarten, but a healthy diet will greatly help fight off
stress.
The time has come to stop a panic attack.

Subject: Anxiety & Panic - Two Steps to Take Before the Healing Process Begins
fenldkerrmpi
Offline Offline

Anxiety sufferers are usually at a loose end after trying methods such as
Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, Hypnosis, Sessions with psychologists,
Meditation, Herbal Alternatives and probably the most popular of them all is
Medications such as anti-depressants and Benzodiazepine's.
Now I was no different to any other sufferer, I was pulling my hair out in the
hopes of one of these alternatives would kick in and free me of this dreadful
nightmare that I lived, day in and day out for years. Unable to leave my house
in fear something dreadful was going to happen to me.
But after plenty of research I did eventually eliminate my anxiety and panic
disorder. And it certainly wasn't from taking medications, or hypnosis or CBT or
any of the worlds most practiced techniques (which have always given a rather
poor response in curing anxiety and panic attacks).
Two Steps to Begin the Healing Process
Step One...
Acceptance
Accepting that what you have is Anxiety and Panic Disorder. And yes, I know this
can be an extremely hard thing to accept. You're sure that it always must be
something else, your heart is racing (you think that you must be having a heart
attack). You're finding it difficult to swallow (so now your thoughts sway to
you must have throat cancer). You find it difficult to breathe (and in that
moment you're sure your going to pass out or die, or maybe you think you have
lung cancer or emphysema). Yes, I know how these thoughts can take control of
your mind.
But in order to become well again, you must accept all these feelings are, are
anxiety and panic attacks.
Step Two...
Trust
I struggled with this issue a lot. And I certainly understand when you have lost
all faith. After all, you've tried all these other techniques with little to no
success. So you begin to wonder why "this time" would be any different to all
the other methods you have tried to your wits end.
But the moment you give up all hope and lose trust in any other possible natural
method, than this will be when you prevent you're healing and eliminating of
Anxiety & Panic Disorder.
Anxiety and Panic Attacks can be eliminated naturally and for good! I'm living
proof of that.

Subject: How to Recognize Panic Attack Symptoms

Do you know how to recognize panic attack symptoms? Can you tell if you are
having an anxiety attack or, is it a heart attack. Symptoms can be very similar.
Panic or anxiety attack signs can be very subtle. If you feel any of the
symptoms we will reveal in this article it may be prudent to discuss them with
your doctor or specialist.
Just what is a panic or anxiety attack? It is a physical, or more often mental,
condition where real or perceived threats invade one's body. These threat cause
an increase in adrenaline that shifts the defense mechanisms of your body into
high gear. The attack can last several minutes or be over in a few seconds.
Learning to separate actual threats from perceived ones is one way of dealing
and eventually curing panic attacks.
You must learn to recognize panic attack symptoms in order to rule out a more
serious condition. Heart attacks can have symptoms that mirror anxiety attacks
and obviously, those will require immediate medical attention.
Here are a few of the sensations you may feel when having a panic attack.
Dizziness leading to a sense of panic or pending danger, tightness in the throat
and chest, shortness of breath, racing of the heart, obsessive worries and
unwanted thoughts. Can you see how some of these symptoms are similar to a heart
attack? You mat also notice that you do not feel connected to what is going on
around you and have an overwhelming fear that these sensations will push you
over the edge.
The good news is that most times panic attacks won actually hurt you. The
symptoms will usually subside on their own within a few minutes. Learning to
cope with panic attacks is a band aid approach and not as permanent as learning
to cure them.
Before you begin on a road to recovery you must first know how to recognize
panic attack symptoms. Hopefully, this brief article has given you some useful
advice in that direction.

Hi everyone, I'd like to express my interest in finding someone online perhaps
from this group. I've recently been feeling rejected and hurt due to my husbands
loss of interest in me.

I really feel as if it would help me if I tried being the OTHER woman for
another man. We can keep it online only and discreet if you are in a similar
position.

Here are some pics and also my webcam.

I'm in my 50's, I am a natural readhead with a passion for life. I'm a recently
divorced middle school teacher.

I love to chat on webcam and take sexy photographs. I love reading and taking
long walks. I'd love to meet a kind man who enjoys my company. A good sense of
humor is great as well.

I have some pictures and some more information about myself on my profile page
here http://newfreehost.info/matureteach/

I hope you like what you see :)

I'm a divorced 50 something redhead. I would like to develop a casual
relationship through chat/webcam, which could lead to something else but to be
honest I'd like to keep things no strings attached unless I meet someone really
great.

I've got some photos and a webcam here

Would love to meet some single men to chat with. If you're married that's ok as

I'm in my forties and have spent the majority of my life unhappy and bored. I
was one of those women who married their high school sweet heart straight out of
school at a very young age without really knowing what else was out there.

I've only been with one man and as much as I care about him I'm looking for
more, looking for some passion and some fun

I'm sure there are men in a similar situation as myself and right now I want
something discreet chatting online is a good way to start

you can reach me and view my pics here
