Help. Going out alone?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #3843 of 4460 |

Ok, I am very despretly single and very social phobic, so pardon the
lame question ...
But I often would like to go out to a bar, just to be around people
and maby meet someone. I literaly have no one at all to go with, so
its alone or nothing. And just being in public alone is hard enough
for me. If I am alone, and don't find a place to sit right away if
the bar is full, what is the 'normal' thing to do, without looking
lame? I already feel a little unfamiliar and awkward being a single
girl going to a bar alone ... but when I walk into a bar that is
already full of people, I feel unsure what to do with myself! Do I
just order my drink and kind of stand off to the side? I feel really
lame not knowing what people normally do in this situation! It seems
like the only times I have seen this situation occur when the bar is
full, people are usually with friends, so they can naturally stand
and talk to each other. But what do you do while you're waiting for
room to sit, when you don't know anyone at the bar, and aren't in a
position to easily fall into a conversation with someone?
