Easington Primary Care Trust, Sure Start and the Speech and Language Therapy department at Hartlepool Primary Care Trust have worked together on a new initiative to develop services for families with young children who live in Easington.
If you want to be part of this new project, you should be able to demonstrate an interest in working with children and their families, as well as enthusiasm and a familiarity with working within a multi‑agency team.
Easington is within County Durham in the north east of England , and offers affordable housing and first class schools and leisure facilities. You can also enjoy the beautiful coastline and scenic countryside as well as first class road and rail links to the rest of the north east and the UK.

As a qualified Speech and Language Therapist you would be working with paediatric Speech and Language Therapy teams, parents, carets, and Sure Start teams you will:
- Develop and co‑ordinate approaches to education and training to prevent speech and language delay
- Take a lead in planning and developing innovative and flexible ways of promoting communication skill development.
- Have responsibility for the support and supervision of other speech and language therapists working within Early Years.

Supported by the Early Years Co‑ordinator you will:
- Assess, diagnose and provide intervention for a wide range of children with communication difficulties
- Promote normal language development in young children through early intervention
- Implement strategies to facilitate prevention of speech and language delay
- Work with colleagues to plan and provide teaching and training for parents, carets, professionals and others involved in the care of the client group
There are also opportunities for newly/recently qualified Speech and language Therapists to work within paediatric mainstream and special needs in Hartlepool.
