This post is suitable for a newly qualified therapist who is keen to develop skills with a wide variety of children with speech and language disorders. A system of regular supervision is in place and continuing professional development is actively encouraged

Speech and Language Therapist
Band 2 spine points 30-32
35 hours per week term time only

We have a vacancy for a Speech and Language Therapist to work in two of Newcastle’s Speech and Language Additionally Resources Centres. The post is based mainly in Atkinson Road Primary School in the west of the city, which caters for 16 primary age children with severe speech and language disorders. Two sessions a week are spent at a secondary ARC for speech, language and communication disorders, working together with another therapist.

We are looking for a therapist with at least three years experience, a significant part of which will have been spent working with school age children with a range of severe and complex disorders. Experience of working in Education is essential and you will have a very good knowledge of current issues within Education. The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and to implement therapy programmes via other professionals is essential.

Although based in the ARCs there are strong links with the rest of the Paediatric Team with support and supervision provided by the SLT manager and the therapist working in the Newcastle’s other Primary Speech and Language ARC. There are opportunities for professional development both internally and externally and the team works within an ethos of continually monitoring and implementing best practice.

For further information contact Deb Lees on 0191 2563428 email Deb Lees or Marian Downs on 0191 2650353
