The North Tyneside Primary Care Trust (PCT) employs around 550 staff and responsible for planning, delivering and purchasing the most appropriate healthcare treatment for local residents. Some services are provided direct by our own staff and some are purchased from other NHS trusts, such as hospitals.

 

Speech and Language Therapist

Band 2, Spine Point 25‑33, £20,781 ‑ £28,438, Full Time, Temporary for 6 months initially.

Experienced in the field of acquired neurological disorders, you will join our team in North Tyneside's adult service which is part of the wider Speech and Language Therapist department of some people. Owing to an anticipated vacancy and maternity leave coinciding we are able to offer a temporary contract with immediate effect. It is expected that the contract will be extended beyond the initial term and the post is likely to become established.

 

We can offer a range of in and out‑patient and community opportunities with good peer and senior support in a friendly and highly motivated team. Opportunities also exist to work into other areas of the service including ENT, adult learning disability and dysfluency. We offer an integrated service to residents of North Tyneside with a flexible, needs‑led approach based on current research evidence.

 

The team is based in a purpose built, multi‑disciplinary therapies area within North Tyneside General Hospital. The department is well equipped and well supported by clerical staff. There is full access to a library and research support on site, as well as close links with the Newcastle University Speech department. You should have at least 2 years' experience including working in an acute setting and have accredited post basic dysphagia training.

 

As this post involves contact with a vulnerable client group, it has also been designated as requiring ENHANCED Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau. This post is subject to the terms and conditions of the Scientific & Professional Whitley Council and the General Whitley Council.
