The Speech and Language Sciences Programme, Newcastle University, is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced speech and language therapist to work in the Newcastle Aphasia Clinic at the University for 6 months in the latter half of 2003, to cover maternity leave. The successful applicant will work as part of an exciting therapy team providing intensive speech and language therapy services to clients attending the clinic.
During that time, the post holder will contribute to the assessment and selection of clients to the clinic, co-ordinate and provide group therapy to the clients over an 11 week period, and liaise with clinicians and students involved in individual therapy for the clients. The post-holder will be involved in student supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
Clinical experience in the area of aphasia is required, as are strong communication and organisational skills. While a significant part of the job will involve planning and delivering group therapy, the position provides an excellent opportunity for a clinician to develop skills in this area in a supportive environment along side experienced clinicians.
We would be happy to facilitate a secondment to promote an excellent CPD opportunity and continued collaboration with the community. We will consider a higher rate of salary where appropriate.
For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Janet Webster, Aphasia Clinic Director (0191 222 8659), or Dr Anne Whitworth, Director of Clinical Education, Speech and Language Sciences, Newcastle University (0191 222 8875).
