We
are looking to recruit a Speech and Language Therapist who will
act as Expert Practitioner/Clinical Adviser for the Paediatric
Special Needs Team. The post will include providing second opinions,
specialist clinical advice and support to Speech and Language
Therapists and other professionals liaising with the service.
He/she will provide a highly specialist clinical service to children with a wide range of disorders (many of which are complex in nature) in a variety of settings including Early Years, schools, hospitals and clients’ homes; assessing, diagnosing, prioritising, treating and discharging clients autonomously.
In addition the role will include coordinating the service to the special schools in Gateshead, liaising with the senior management teams within each school and developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures within the Special Needs Paediatric Team in conjunction with the Head of Service.
Working with the Head of Service to develop the strategic direction, organisation, planning
and development of the Special Needs Paediatric Team is an essential part of the post, whilst audit and research and on-going training of other professionals will also be part of the role.
The post will be subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure.
