The Northern Research SIG is pleased to present a workshop aimed at providing information and support for speech and language therapists to use and contribute to the evidence base of our profession.

Integrating EBP into your clinical practice: a model for a workplace journal club

 

 with Lucy Paterson and Charlotte Buswell

Specialist SLTs Newcastle Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Service

 

Programme:

 

9.15 – 9:30	Registration and coffee
9.30 – 11:00	Sample Journal Club: Practice your clinical appraisal skills and see how a journal club session might run   You will be sent 2 papers and 2 critical appraisal checklists prior to the workshop. We will practice using the checklists to evaluate the evidence
11:00 – 11:15	Coffee
11:15 – 12:15	A model for a workplace journal club: Lucy Paterson and Charlotte Buswell will discuss how they got their journal club off the ground, useful resources they have used and what benefits they feel it has for their practice. You will be supported to think about what you would need to do the same in your department.
12:15 – 12:45	AGM: for those who can stay we will conduct the AGM over lunch
