Salary: £29,091- £38,352 per annum

Hours: Part Time, 15 hours per week

 

We have an exciting new vacancy for a specialist speech and language therapist to work at the Child Development Centre with babies and young children with a range of complex special needs. The CDC team works with children from across the region and there will be opportunity to work in more depth in a particular specialist area eg tracheostomy, videofluroscopy. You will be contributing to the management of a caseload of children with dysphagia and communication needs, providing assessment and intervention both on the wards and in the community. Support and supervision is provided by the Lead SLT at the Child Development Centre.

 

Your post qualification experience will include substantial experience working with preschool children with special needs and their families within multi-agency environment. You will have a high level of skill in the management of dysphagia in babies and young children and experience of videofluroscopy and of working with children with a tracheostomy. A good knowledge of AAC is essential as is experience of working with and providing training to a wide range of other professionals.

 

This is an ideal opportunity to develop your specialist skills in this area, working as part of a highly skilled and innovative preschool special needs service. The Child Development Centre speech and language therapy team is an integral part of the Newcastle Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy service, a specialist led service offering a high level of personal and professional support. A car driver is essential.
